Precision Optical is pleased to announce that Paul Dimeck Jr. is its employee of month for April, 2014. Paul began his career in optics in 1983 building optical instruments at Cubic Precision K&E. He was an optical apprentice under master optician Manfred Schiller. Manfred groomed Paul into a master optician over a 10-year period.

On March 17th, 2014 Precision Optical was proud to host filming for the hit A&E© show Storage Wars© (http://www.aetv.com/storage-wars). Storage Wars contacted Precision Optical to tap into our vast knowledge and experience as they attempted to appraise the value of a recently discovered optical instrument.

On Tuesday January 21st, and Tuesday February 25th, 2014 students from Ensign Middle School visited Precision Optical and received an in-depth presentation about optics, photonics, and optical manufacturing by VP of Engineering Nicolaus Lambert and Engineering Intern Bo Wang.

Precision Optical is proud to announce its employees of the month for February and March of 2014. Gina Sanchez is our employee of the month for February. Our employee for the month of March is Xong Yang.

After more than 16 years as an integral member of the Precision Optical family, Rod Randolph will be retiring from the company effective May 1, 2014. Rod presided over incredible growth during his tenure, and his collegiality and steady leadership will be sorely missed.

On January 25, 2014, Precision Optical hosted an educational training event for local high school physics and chemistry teachers to incorporate optics into their curriculum.

Precision Optical is happy to announce that Bill Gagliano was January’s employee of the month! Bill began his career in optics at Melles Griot in 1979, working as a coating and assembly technician. He was hired at Precision Optical in December of 1986 by Al Lambert Sr, the General Manager at that time. Bill is one of our longest-tenured employees.

Precision Optical recently supported Irvine Valley College (IVC) in the production of lab videos for labs from OP-TEC’s precision optics technician (POT) course 1: Quality Assurance of Precision Optics. Precision Optical provided much of the hardware (light sources, optics, tools) and lab equipment (granite tables, dark room, lab space) to shoot the videos.

Precision Optical is pleased to announce that Keith Kitagawa is the recipient of our Founders’ Award for 2013. The Founders’ Award winner is elected annually by a popular vote of Precision Optical employees. The award is meant to give recognition to the employee who has best exemplified Precision Optical’s dedication to collegiality, team work, and excellence over the past year.

Irvine Valley College has been awarded its first National Science Foundation grant, a three-year Advanced Technological Education award of $190,000 to fund the IVC Photonics Initiative.
